Raku is the firing of ceramics in a live fire that originates from Japan. Biscuit covered with a special, low-melting glaze intended for raku firings, is heated by the flame in an uncontrolled manner. The red-hot objects are removed from the kiln with tongs. Now comes the most important moment, when the ceramics take on an exceptional beauty. To achieve the desired appearance, we have to reduce the glaze, which consists of cutting off the air supply to its surface.
